This wine captures the unique synergy of site, varieties and vintage to create a wine with exceptional vibrancy or character for which this area is so highly regarded. Luscious dark fruits with great density and characteristic fine gravely tannins are the hallmarks of this unique sub-region.
Excellent colour, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc, which has been matured in French oak, much of it new; its mix of cassis, redcurrant, spice and licorice is bolstered by that oak and by ripe supple tannins. A thoroughly hedonistic wine that will be even better in five-plus years time when that oak has settled down.
Puts on a fair show of pretty vanilla/mocha oak over mulberry, aniseed and regional bay leaf and gravel. Medium bodied, plush red and black fruit, pliant but insistent powdery tannin and balanced acidity. Tannin prolongs the finish and the overall feeling is of a well structured, well polished wine that delivers just enough to keep you happy.
This is a single vineyard blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. It is such a complex wine of leafy cabernet dominance with a meaty fruitcake underlay.
