Cape Mentelle takes a minimal approach towards this classic Margaret River blend. The aim is to preserve as much fruit intensity and regional character as possible, whilst providing a full flavoured distinctive white wine. The style accentuates the fresh fruit characters of both varieties with the added complexity and palate weight offered by a small portion of barrel fermentation.
Maragret River SBS has come of age... A touch of barrel work (just a small percentage here) adds texture and seamlessness to tightly restrained grapefruit, lemon and guava flavours. Jaw-dropping.
... Light straw-green, it has an extra measure of intensity and drive, with an array of flavours ranging from grassy pea pod to citrus, and ultimately a touch of tropical fruit; the length is a given, likewise the balance.
This is a terrific example of this style. The nose has remarkable complexity for this style with minerally, gooseberry herbal mix of considerable intensity. The palate is textured and rich yet with that beautiful fine precision you seek with this style.
Fresh in the new livery, this is every bit as great as you’ve come to expect, with plenty of bright tropical fruits, lemons and hints of nectarine; subtly grassy too. The palate
has a core of compact tropical and citrus fruit flavour, with a fine mineral thread and trademark showroom poise.
