"The wines made here reflect their origins and regionality
and are consistently among the finest from the region.
The cabernet reaches exceptional heights”
Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2017
‘Marmaduke’ is names after Marmaduke Terry, one of the first settlers of the Margaret River region at the turn of the century. He surveyed vast tracts of the hinterland of Western Australia and farmed with his family at Wallcliffe, on the banks of the Margaret River
Marmaduke is a Shiraz sourced exclusively from Margaret River. The aim is to produce a fruit forward, soft and spicy red wine, which exhibits the regional expression of Margaret River and varietal intensity of shiraz. Rich juicy berries with pepper and spice are the hallmark characteristics of this wine.
Bright colour; a neatly presented portrait of southern Margaret River shiraz, with its cool grown red berry fruit flavours given well measured support from tannins and oak.
Juicy mixed berry fruit, raspberry rope, pepper, lavender and aromatic dried herb stuff. Medium bodied, fleshy chalky tannin, bright fruit and a punchy finish of good length. For whatever reason, it has a sort of Spanish red wine character around it. Excellent. My kind of sub $20 red.
One of Margaret River’s pioneers, now under the ownership of LVMH and with chief winemaker Rob Mann at the helm, is making some of the most exciting wines in its history. This is the entry level red, a generously flavoured regional shiraz with ripe fleshy texture.Download all reviews for this vintage as PDF
