An elegant and complex chardonnay with flavours of grapefruit, lime and gingerbread on a long fine palate with subtle mineral hints. Traditional winemaking techniques including hand picking and barrel fermentation produce a wine of great pedigree with outstanding balance and refinement.
Margaret River has established an international reputation for high quality chardonnay. The Cape Mentelle style draws inspiration from traditional methods to produce a wine displaying aromatic complexity and a fine, textured palate with a long, clean finish.
Cape Mentelle’s finest ever white wine has a spicy floral scent whose underlying core of grapefruit, melon, tropical and mineral aromas are enhanced by a mesured suspense of smoky, mealy, nutty and creamy complexity, plus undertones of brioche and struck match. An exercise in controlled intensity and power, its long and luxuriant, elegant and finely crafted, with remarkable length, a fine minerality and lingering smoky, savoury
Must be the best chardonnay yet released from Cape Mentelle. Aroma is immidiately complex and total beguiling with its savoury, mealy grapefruit characters lifted with addition of a little spice. The oak influence is subtle and superb.. Layered and deeply complex with a little twist of lime and mineral. Stunning wine.
An intense, vibrant and tightly structured wine primarily driven by its grapefruit, lime and white peach fruit, less by barrel fermentation in French oak. It has great drive to the palate, and outstanding length, all the fruit flavours still wrapped around it snatural acidity.
From a great white wine vintage in the West, this restrained chardonnay has a refined air about it; pears and quince, some grapefruit and gentle flinty edges, some tight-grained oak too. The palate’s poised and crisp, with crunchy stone fruits sitting bright and lively. A convincing exercise in power and restraint, there’s impressive tension here.Download all reviews for this vintage as PDF
