The cabernet reaches exceptional heights”
Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2017
An elegant and complex chardonnay with flavours of grapefruit, lime and gingerbread on a long fine palate with subtle mineral hints. Traditional winemaking techniques including hand picking and barrel fermentation produce a wine of great pedigree with outstanding balance and refinement.
This wine combines traditional methods with fantastic natural fruit intensity for aromatic complexity and a fine, textured palate.
A fine contemporary chardonnay able to carry plenty of fruit but also to reveal a very tight balance. Scented with a spicy bouquet of fresh peach, grapefruit, nectarine and sweet vanilla oak, it also unfolds nuances of cloves, cinnamon and a fresh floral note. Very long and elegant, its restrained peach/grapefruit flavours and new fine-grained oak combine with remarkable focus and freshness, finishing quite savoury with a briny, mineral aspect.
Pale straw-green; grapefruit/citrus fruit is the outer layer of the wine; inside are white peach/stone fruit flavours and largely inside these two layers are the oak and some nutty touches associated with that oak. Since all the layers are translucent, the net result is a fruit-driven Chardonnay of considerable elegance.
This is a chardonnay that is all about refinement and classic lines. It has tremendous fruit intensity and a dab of winemaking influence. The result is a wine of elegance that sustains its long finish with an enticing mix of grapefruit and meal, and a subtle white peach influence. Lovely texture and a keen mineral edge.
The new-release wines from this Margaret River producer are typically consistent and outstanding, the chardonnay always exemplary. Sweet, tightly woven palate, gently poised with mineral-like purity, sprinkled with white stonefruit, fresh lime and lychee.Download all reviews for this vintage as PDF
